The last ten years have been a time of tremendous change and innovation for us all, but what about our immediate future? Are you as excited as you were five years ago about the incredible promise technology offers educators, or do you fear that the challenges we face will continue to slow down our progress? Join Rem Jackson for a fast-paced and entertaining look at how you can beat the odds and create an explosion of high-tech creativity at your school.

Designing Learning Environments for a Digital-age
The essential question: How can technology create radically new and exciting learning environments for both teachers and students? This presentation explores how technology can change the ways we organize curriculum, what we mean by a workday, how to create new patterns of relationship between the school and the community, and how to assess the performance of students in dramatic new ways. Participants will walk away with a better and more concrete understanding of how technology can truly prepare our students to live in this digital-age.

Visioning: Negotiating With the Future
Visioning future possibilities is the key to successfully integrating technology as a tool to enhance learning. This presentation will explore the images of the future across different disciplines and how they are critical in helping you to integrate informational technologies into the teaching environment. You will learn the skills to begin to “think forward” in your planning for the successful use of technology for staff and students. You will develop an understanding of why a “shared vision” is important to generating commitment to the uses of technology in enhancing learning and teaching.

Effectively Managing Change
Schools are complex structures! Not understanding how the different departments, programs, and schedules interact will cause you to feel like you are drowning in daily events that seem disconnected. Only through systems thinking, careful planning, and building staff capacity can you manage this complexity.

Overcoming the Common Challenges Teachers Have in Integrating Technology into Instruction
Time is frequently the number one reason teachers give for not integrating technology more into instruction. In addition, teachers have fears about their students using technology, have concerns about costs and accountability, have so many other perceived priorities, and have a lack of actual or perceived knowledge/skills in HOW to integrate technology effectively. But with the right guidance and tools, teachers can become better equipped with strategies and resources that allow teachers to significantly increase their capacity to use technology more frequently and more effectively.
